The Journey

Rapha’s family has faced a series of displacements, moving from the Soweto area of Kibera to the Undugu village after their previous neighborhood was demolished. They now reside in a mud-walled house perilously close to a dam, where the threat of flooding is a constant shadow during the rainy season.

While Rapha’s father works tirelessly as a casual laborer, hawker, and church leader, his mother is currently unable to work due to chronic back injuries. As the third born in a family of five children, Rapha carries the weight of his family’s hopes on his shoulders, balancing his studies with a deep commitment to his faith and his role in the church’s praise and worship team.

The Vision

Rapha is a gifted artist with a portfolio of achievement certificates that attest to his creative prowess. He dreams of merging his artistic talents with a career that allows him to inspire others in his community. He is a calm, disciplined, and well-read young man who believes that art and faith are the keys to processing the hardships of slum life and building a more beautiful future for Kenya.

Immediate Need

Attending a National School like Mbita High is a massive achievement, but it comes with financial demands that Rapha’s family—surviving on casual labor and hawking—cannot meet. Rapha was selected for the 2026 pilot program because he possesses a rare “National School” caliber mind that risks being lost to the cycle of poverty. Your sponsorship provides the tuition and boarding stability required for Rapha to focus on his National Exams and secure his path to university.
