The Journey
Talia is a survivor of the most difficult circumstances. Born into the Kibera slums, she lost her mother the same year she was born. She lives in a 10×10 foot mud-walled shack with five other family members, including her elder sister and two young toddlers. Her sister works in a local shop to support the entire household, but the minimal income is often stretched beyond its breaking point between food and rent.
Despite the instability of her home life and the lack of financial support from her father, Talia’s spirit remains “vivacious and determined.” She has refused to let the cramped, noisy environment of the slums define her future.
The Vision
Talia dreams of becoming a Lawyer. She is an active member of her school’s debating club and the Christian Union, using her voice to lead and inspire her peers. Her ambition is fueled by a desire for social justice; she wants to represent the oppressed and vulnerable, ensuring that children from backgrounds like hers have a legal advocate in their corner.
Immediate Need
A talented athlete in basketball and netball, Talia is a natural team player who has already proven her academic resilience at Rang’ala Girls High School. She was selected for the 2026 pilot program because her education is currently at risk due to her sister’s inability to cover both household survival and high school tuition. Your sponsorship provides the stability Talia needs to stay in the classroom and continue her journey toward the bar exam.
